Taking the Plunge

Writer's picture: Amanda BullockAmanda Bullock

Oh my gosh you guys, I have been wanting to do this for SO long. But it feels like life gets in the way and this always gets put on the back burner. BUT, I want to have a place to document all the DIY home projects we do and have a central place for you to find instructions, links, pictures, successes, failures, and everything in between. I have been feeling a huge push to just sit down and do it....put myself out there a little more, connect the dots to some of the awesome things I have already been sharing, and connect with YOU more, so...here we are!

I'll take a minute to introduce myself and my little family so you can get to know us and how all this home improvement stuff has become such a passion of ours. As you probably know by now, my name is Amanda and my husband's name is Chyler. We have a 3 year old son named Everett, 2 dogs, 3 goldfish, and a house full of love. We have been married almost 7 years (which I seriously CANNOT believe) and have found over that time that one of our biggest passions and the best quality time we have together is DIY projects, home improvement projects, and everything in between.

We bought our first home in 2018 and spent a lot of time putting our hearts and souls into every inch of it. We painted every wall, we refinished the original hardwood floors, we painted the kitchen cabinets, we replaced the kitchen countertops, we painted the tile in our bathroom, we redid the porch and created my literal dream porch in that old 1940s home. We loved it, we had put our blood sweat and tears into that house, literally. But all good things come to an end and in December of 2021 we knew it was time that we listed our little green house and found something different for our family. We listed our home and it sold in less that 24 hours.

We lived with a close friend for 6 weeks and scoured over Zillow looking for the perfect house. Finally one day in February, there it was. Only one listing picture, but we felt like this was going to be the one. We had a few criteria in looking for a home-more than one bathroom, a master bedroom, a great backyard, a family friendly area, and hopes for a killer craft room ;) Well, maybe that last one was just MY criteria haha. Anyways, Everett and I looked at the house and we put in an offer and it got accepted all without Chyler even seeing it once! It had some quirks, but we were determined to start making it our own.

Less than a month in our new home, and we had gutted the half bath and were replacing every square inch of it. I am still obsessed with how it turned out, and can't wait to give you guys all the dirty deets on how we did it!

We have done a few other projects here in our new home that I'm sure I will end up sharing, but for now, all of this is what brings us to this point. We have tons more projects we want to do and we want to share them with you. So come along with us! Join us in all the Bullock fun while we make our house a home. We are so glad you are here and can't wait to show you what we have up our sleeves!

xoxo,

Amanda
